Tip of the Week - February 2, 2016 - Phone Scams Targeting Your Bank Account
/If you receive a call from someone claiming to be from your bank and asking for your account information, quickly hang up.
"No matter how real this person sounds, no matter how demanding or intimidating this caller is, immediately hang up your phone and call your bank," said CSLEA Foundation Chairman Kenny Ehrman. "The caller may give you a number to call to verify that he or she is legit, but they just answer that number and continue with their scam. Call your financial institution's official number and find out what's going on."
On January 27, 2016, the San Diego County District Attorney's Office reported a bank phone scam targeting San Diego residents. Remember, never provide any bank account numbers or personal information to someone who has initiated contact with you.
