How many restaurant goers slide their purses or backpacks over the backs of their chairs or on the empty chair next to them.  How about cellphones, set out on the table for easy access?  It’s a common occurrence and puts people at risk for theft.

Whether your dining out in a mall courtyard or at a restaurant, always keep your belongings hidden or close within your reach.  Don’t give thieves easy access to your purses, wallets, cellphones and other items of value.  Keep an eye on your credit or debit card as it sits on the table waiting for the server to collect it, especially if you’re seated near an exit.

Items thieves target include car keys, cellphones, computers, tablets, credit or debit cards, cash, purses, backpacks, and jackets that might contain valuables.
